Unequal Footing: Conversations of the Wealthy Class

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

I met up with my childhood friend and her ULTRA wealthy husband and some of their friends. Let me tell you, the ULTRA Rich have a totally different language from the rich and middle class. There is a high price to pay for ignorance and from what I see; it can’t always be funded or cured with a college degree. BTW, this circle of friends I had the humbling experience of socializing with – of the 7 of them:

  •  Only 3 had gone to college
  • Only 1 of the 3 had attended grad school
  • 4 of them had never graduated high school
  • 5 of them came from poverty
  • 1 was homeless for 2 years in their 40’s
  • 2 of them are people of color
  • 3 of them were women
  • All of them have travelled the world many times over
  • All of them were very into their health and fitness (and it showed)
  • All of them were involved in some kind of marketing business (of their many ventures)
  • Of those that have children, NONE of them attend public school
  • 4 of them home school (i.e. where ever in the world home is, is where they are schooled: yachting the Black Sea / safari in Africa / Riding Route 66 in a Winnebago from Chicago to California / you know, stuff like that).
  • 1 attends a very specialized school that focuses on the child’s talent and grooms that gift.
  • Oh and BTW again, 2 of these kids have started their own business.
  • 1 earned $72,700 last year (14 years old)
  • 1 earned $51,210 last year (16 years old) and bought HER first car cash
  • One of the baby business owners joined an MLM business in June last year (well actually mom joined, but the kid works it).

  • One of the baby business owners joined an MLM business in June last year (well actually mom joined, but the kid works it).

PLEASE NOTE: I am not knocking college, just that so much emphasis is put on getting a college degree and today more than 60% of college graduates are not even working in the field of which their degree is in.

I believe it begins in our schools with our children. American kids are so far behind the 8ball compared to other kids around the world who have far less liberties than our children have here in the states. Most parents are still preaching the same song and dance that their parents preached to them, “Get good grades in school, go to college and get a good paying job (ie. typically $60K or better annual).”

So, about that business you were thinking about getting started? Just be careful that you do not end up a business owner that can’t leave your business for even a couple of days without you would cause everything to implode. If your gonna get something started, it seems to me that leveraging time and other people would be the key.

Thought 4 the day (All used up :-)

When I stand before God at the end of my journey, I hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left so that I can say, 'I used everything you gave me'.

Thought 4 the Day (I''m just sayin'...)

If your mind isn't open, it would do well to keep your mouth shut too.

Thought 4 the Day: What if You Were to....

.... as you were walking by a stranger on the street... bark at them. No not like a little ankle biter bark, I mean bark at them like a big St. Barnard bark, and then just keep walking like nothing happened.

For those of you that ride elevators to get to work...especially if the elevator has one or more people. Get on the elevator and just walk to the far back corner and stand there.... facing the corner - tightly. Ask the person closest to the panel to press your floor.

Yes, I've done both. Hillarious!!

Thought 4 the Day for the Guilt Imposing Selves :-/

Yes... I did it!! Yes, I ate the damn chocolate chip cookies, fried chicken, mashed pototes (with beef gravey), and I had a huge slice of red velvet cake too!!! Yeah, I did it... so what??? And I washed it all down with Dasani water. Now if you will excuse me I need to make an appointment with my colon hydrotherapist and go on a two day juice fast. (sniff, sniff.... hey, did you see that elephant run by?)

Thought 4 the Day: A Personal Reflection in a Story - What about You?

One day a father of a little boy showed up at a baseball field. It so happened his eight year old son lost a lens from his glasses in centerfield and was searching for it. As the father wandered onto the field nearing his boy, he began screaming at his son for losing the lens.

One of the coaches, David called “Time.” David and others went out to center field to look for the lens. However, the dad kept shouting threats and obscenities at his little son. Then, he cocked back his fist and punched the little boy in the face. The boy went down.

As David painfully observed, he saw the precious little boy lying there stunned. Then he sat up, fighting back the tears. He would not cry.

Immediately, David went to him. Putting his arm around him, David gently said, "Don't worry, you didn't mean to lose it. We'll find the lens. It will be ok." The boy burst into tears.

My heart broke when I heard of  this as I could recall my own personal story wrapped up in this - as a little girl (with my mom). The minute David touched him, this little boy sobbed. His little spirit responded to love.

Do you recall what it is like to be eight? At a moment like that, this little boy was confused. In his young mind, he had done a bad thing in losing his lens. He knew he didn't mean to, but “motives” aren't understood at that age. After all, his dad was mad, so he had to be bad. He had no idea what others felt. As far as he knew, they felt the same way his dad did. Oh, the insecurity this little one must have felt at that moment.

But he also felt another pain: a crushed spirit from the screaming, a broken heart from the fist. Deep within he was created by God to be loved, but no one loved him. He was designed to be valued and treated as significant. So, he held back his tears. If he cried, it could get worse. Everyone might turn on him. He felt so alone and scared. He wanted someone to comfort him. Then a hand was placed on his shoulder and an arm came around him. He heard the soft voice of a kind man who had been playing baseball with him. "Don't worry, you didn't mean to lose it. We'll find the lens. It will be ok." The boy burst into tears. It was love. It was honor. He was rescued. Oh, if only dad had joined in and said, "Will you forgive me?"

Fam, every human spirit longs to be loved and respected. Every human spirit cries out, "Does anybody love me? Am I significant to anyone?"

Looking beyond this little boy, what about you?

Thought 4 the Day 4 All the Lovers in da House (Old skool lessons from the Good Book)

Research reveals that during marital conflict a husband most often reacts when feeling disrespected and a wife reacts when feeling unloved.  We asked 7,000 people this question: when you are in a conflict with your spouse or significant other, do you feel unloved or disrespected?  83% of the men said "disrespected."  72% of the women said, "unloved."  Though we all need love and respect equally, the felt need differs during conflict, and this difference is as different as pink is from blue! Read your bible.... there is a reason why God instructs women to RESPECT your MAN and God instructs men LOVE your WOMAN. Never is it mentioned the other way around.... there is a reason!!

Thought 4 the Day 4 All the People Pleazerz (hmmm... I don't have a smart subtitle afterthought for this one...read on)

I can't give you a surefire formula for success, but I can give you a formula for failure: TRY TO PLEASE EVERYBODY ALL THE TIME. Personally, I believe (and will demonstrate by practicing more) in putting self 1st. Everytime I have put myself 1st, everything / else / one just miraculously falls into place.

Thought 4 the Day 4 Those That Say, "You Gotta Have $$ in the Land of Milk & Honey" (Give me Almond Milk & Maple instead)

Chartered planes to the islands, sipping vintage wines around the world between world-class spa appointmentss (with colon hydrotherapy :-), living like a princess lounging by the infinity pool of a private villa, dining next to and then having drinks with the world's wealthiest royalty from the Middle East. Sounds like an expensive lifestyle, right? Nope. It all costs less than rent in the United States. Free your time and location, your money is automatically worth 3-10 times as much.

Thought 4 the Day for the People Who Say "Grow Up & Get Real" (Uuuugghhh!)

Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one..... especially when you are hanging around the "realist" that are constantly reminding you that "this" is real when what is in your head (your dreams) are realer (yes, it's a new word on Wikipedia [note to self: list on Wikipedia]). Dream on and CREATE!!

Thought 4 the Day: Just sick and tired....

I'm talkin' about somebody that is sick and tired of being sick and tired of dealing with the pain in thier pocket. Find and hang out with people that are more ambitious than you and make them your mentors and inevitably your business partner.

Thought 4 the Day: The one with the highest energy wins!

Thought 4 the Day for YOU!

When was the last time someone told you how awesome, beautiful, wonderful, smart, sassy, sexy, resourceful, funny, exciting, powerful, and dynamic you are? What??? Oh, don't act like you've never heard it before. You have, plenty of times! FELLAS, remember the girl that blushed and giggled when you smiled her way? What about the last time you got suga' sharp and looked in the mirror at yourself like, "Yeah" and then did the walk that President Obama did the first day he walked into the White House - yeah you know the walk, with the slight dip. LADIES, remember when you put on "that dress" and the reaction from not only the men... but the other ladies as well - you know - that hateraid look (gotta love it). And what about the time that special little person in your life looked up to you with arms stretched out to get a soothing hug? Oh yeah... and the other night when you rocked his world?? Yeah guuurrrlll!!!

To my D.I.V.A's and D.I.V.O's I Love You. You're My Inspiration.

Thought 4 the Day for the Egomaniac

Dear God please forgive me when my Vanity overrides my Sanity. My desire to be seen overrides my desire to seek. My desire to be heard overrides my desire to listen. But most of all God, please, please, please.... let me have a good hair day today.
