I met up with my childhood friend and her ULTRA wealthy husband and some of their friends. Let me tell you, the ULTRA Rich have a totally different language from the rich and middle class. There is a high price to pay for ignorance and from what I see; it can’t always be funded or cured with a college degree. BTW, this circle of friends I had the humbling experience of socializing with – of the 7 of them:
- Only 3 had gone to college
- Only 1 of the 3 had attended grad school
- 4 of them had never graduated high school
- 5 of them came from poverty
- 1 was homeless for 2 years in their 40’s
- 2 of them are people of color
- 3 of them were women
- All of them have travelled the world many times over
- All of them were very into their health and fitness (and it showed)
- All of them were involved in some kind of marketing business (of their many ventures)
- Of those that have children, NONE of them attend public school
- 4 of them home school (i.e. where ever in the world home is, is where they are schooled: yachting the Black Sea / safari in Africa / Riding Route 66 in a Winnebago from Chicago to California / you know, stuff like that).
- 1 attends a very specialized school that focuses on the child’s talent and grooms that gift.
- Oh and BTW again, 2 of these kids have started their own business.
- 1 earned $72,700 last year (14 years old)
- 1 earned $51,210 last year (16 years old) and bought HER first car cash
- One of the baby business owners joined an MLM business in June last year (well actually mom joined, but the kid works it).
- One of the baby business owners joined an MLM business in June last year (well actually mom joined, but the kid works it).
PLEASE NOTE: I am not knocking college, just that so much emphasis is put on getting a college degree and today more than 60% of college graduates are not even working in the field of which their degree is in.
I believe it begins in our schools with our children. American kids are so far behind the 8ball compared to other kids around the world who have far less liberties than our children have here in the states. Most parents are still preaching the same song and dance that their parents preached to them, “Get good grades in school, go to college and get a good paying job (ie. typically $60K or better annual).”
So, about that business you were thinking about getting started? Just be careful that you do not end up a business owner that can’t leave your business for even a couple of days without you would cause everything to implode. If your gonna get something started, it seems to me that leveraging time and other people would be the key.
